The SLV Halle GmbH is a cooperating institute of the GSI belonging to the largest SLVs while having approx. 90 employees. Traditionally it is a service provider particularly for the centre of Germany. As a member of the „Verband Innovativer Unternehmen“ (Association of innovative companies) the SLV Halle has the status of an „external, non-profit research institute for  the industry with the emphasis in research and development laid on high performance laser beam treatment and wear protection through welding.

The close connection to rail vehicle engineering is taken account by being the central office for this branch as well as the keeping of the online register DIN 6700/DIN EN 15085. A modern equipped large scale test floor is the most important basis of its recognition as a „testing body for rail typical inspections on components of rail vehicles“.

The SLV Halle GmbH has a subsidiary, the SLV Service GmbH occupying with the execution of job welding for various  industrial sectors. The TC Kleben GmbH as a further subsidiary is engaged in the education and certification on bonding.

Through the IGZ – Competence Centre Joining Technology – the SLV Halle is the operator of a foundation centre oriented to industrial sectors.
