Schweißtechnische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt SLV Mecklenburg-Vorpommern GmbH

The SLV in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is the youngest of the 10 institutes of the same type and was founded in May 1995. Special competence of the SLV is on the field of laser beam welding with a 12 kW CO2 laser as well as a 4 kW Nd-Yag-laser. Since mid 2004 it has been the owner of the first ytterbium fibre laser worldwide with a performance of 10 kW. In conjunction with this laser source, highly modern working heads for welding, cutting and surface treatment were taken into operation. Together with 6 partners from the same building as well as further external companies and research institutes in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern the SLV Mecklenburg-Vorpommern operates the laser technology and transfer centre (LTTZ) in Rostock, being capable of offering cost-effective performances from consulting of small and medium-sized, innovative companies on the field of the application of the laser technology over the development up to an interbranch manufacture of tiny parts from medical technology or large steel engineering elements. Moreover, the SLV Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as the only SLV has owns a thermomechanical test unit of the type "Gleeble 3500" with the help of which the simulation of any temperature courses at small material samples is offered. Up to now mainly welding- time-temperature curves have been developed, the range, however reaching from hot tensile tests up to the measurement of temperature dependent or thermo-physical characteristic values. A large number of the data determined over several years has been processed in the computer based, consulting system on welding WeldWare®.
