The SLV Saarbrücken was founded at the beginning of the 70s succeeding the department welding engineering of the material testing authority of the Saarland. After successfully developing for over 30 years it became branch of the GSI mbH in 2002.

Based on a good technical equipment, the SLV Saarbrücken today has more than 28 qualified  employees working on the fields of education and training on welding, certification of companies and supervision of welding and corrosion protection work. For the performance of these tasks a welding training shop, and a modern, accredited testing laboratory for destructive and non-destructive testing are available. The development of expert opinions is an important field of activities of the SLV.  

Beyond the regional activities in the Saarland and in Rhine-Palatinate the SLV Saarbrücken mainly advises customers in neighbouring France and Luxemburg. Particularly successful is the certification according to international quality assurance regulations such as ISO 9001 and ISO 3834 as well as according to EN 15085 being performed at the moment.
