Research and development in the GSI are close to application and customer oriented. Both are performed at selected locations orienting itself at core competences. Basically, topics are treated within projects public sponsored while a close partnership towards potential users is being looked for who support the projects only partly being financed by different means. Within the scope of contractual research and development  for trade and industry exclusive orientation of the work towards the customers is taking place.
