Calculation and Simulation
With the help of calculations constructions can be examined and evaluated as early as in the development phase, i.e. before commissioning or inspecting the component. With more complex structures such a procedure is particularly recommendable, in order to consider the particularities of welded joints and to minimise the cost of development and testing.
For the simulation of a welding, finite element models considering all relevant marginal conditions are established. Of special importance in this case is the application of the clamping technology according to reality and the use of temperature dependent material parameters. Beside of distortion and residual stresses the temperature field and also the distribution of phases in the component are calculated. Due to simulation these results are available even at positions where measurements are not possible.
