Testing and welding personnel, welding supervisors, welders, and quality assurance personnel.
Penetrant testing is a widely used test method that is applied in almost all areas of industry. With a few exceptions, all materials can be tested using this method. A further advantage is the low equipment requirements. Depending on the surface, the procedure can be carried out in colour (red-white test) or fluorescent.
The course covers the curriculum of Levels 1 and 2. The course teaches physical and technical fundamentals and puts this theoretical knowledge into practice. This ensures that every participant is confident in using and mastering this procedure in practice. Another focus is the evaluation and documentation of test results. The standard-compliant evaluation of test results is explained based on current standards and carried out independently in the practical sessions. Test specimens with known defects make it possible to check the evaluation. An examination is conducted according to ISO 9712, considering the Pressure Equipment Directive (DGRL) 2014/68/EU.
The course is multi-sectoral. A qualification in a metalworking profession is recommended as an entry requirement for the course. The prerequisite for the examination is confirmation of the required visual acuity. With proven industrial experience of at least 60 days in the field of penetrant testing, participants can, after successfully completing the course and exam, be certified according to ISO 9712 by the certification body. The qualification examination and certification are carried out by the TÜV NORD personal certification body.
Usually, the participant submits a certification application following the examination, upon which the corresponding certificate is issued. TÜV Nord certificates are accredited by DAkkS and cover the industrial sectors “Castings (c)”, “Forgings (f)”, “Welded Products (w)”, “Tubes and Piping (t)”, and “Rolled Products (wp)”. Certification according to the Pressure Equipment Directive is possible upon corresponding application. After a certificate validity period of 5 years, an application for renewal must be submitted to the TÜV NORD personnel certification body, and an examination must be conducted.
