Content

Ultrasonic testing is a proven non-destructive testing method used to evaluate internal irregularities in a wide variety of components. The physical and technical fundamentals, such as the generation and propagation of sound, the structure of probes and ultrasonic devices, and the calibration of testing systems, are covered in lectures and practical exercises. Further focal points include system checks and the use of codes and standards.
Participants acquire the skills necessary to test simple components made of steel and other materials. Following test instructions, tasks such as wall thickness measurements, lamination testing, sound velocity measurements, location of discontinuities, and basic evaluation of results are carried out. These skills are further reinforced through extensive practical exercises. An examination is conducted according to DIN EN ISO 9712, considering the Pressure Equipment Directive (DGRL) 2014/68/EU.

Note

A level of knowledge equivalent to a skilled worker qualification in a technical profession in metalworking is desirable but not mandatory. If the required experience in the field of ultrasonic testing and physical fitness (eye test) has been proven, certification of the participant according to DIN EN ISO 9712 is possible.
