Content

Visual testing is an important method of non-destructive testing used to evaluate a wide range of external features on welded components as well as castings and forgings. The course covers the curriculum for Levels 1 and 2. The physical, technical, and physiological fundamentals are presented through lectures and practical exercises. This is accompanied by targeted training on test objects to ensure a practice-oriented education. Key focuses of the training include testing techniques tailored to the geometries and surfaces of the components being examined, capabilities and limitations of testing equipment, preparation of test instructions, as well as standard-compliant evaluation of results and documentation options. An examination is conducted in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9712, considering the Pressure Equipment Directive (DGRL) 2014/68/EU.


Note

A level of knowledge equivalent to a skilled worker qualification in a technical profession, ideally in metalworking, is recommended. If the required experience in the field of visual testing and physical fitness (eye test) has been proven, certification of the participant is possible.
For this method, a shortened Level 2 course for engineers may be attended if the relevant prerequisites are met. Additionally, shortened combination courses with the PT (penetrant testing) method are available. Shortened courses for the sectors of welded products and ray weld seams can also be used for Level 2 training.
